Dear Expert,
Tulcea County Council and regional partners, will organise a dedicated event themed "Challenges and Opportunities in the Danube Delta: advancing blue economy", between 16 – 18 June, in Tulcea City, Romania.
We are pleased to invite you to participate in the event, valuing your contribution within the debated thematics.
The forum will focus on the part the Danube Delta plays in advancing a sustainable blue economy.
The Danube Delta is one of Europe's most valuable ecological regions and a critical interface between the Danube River Basin and the Black Sea. As pressures from climate change, pollution, economic transitions, and regional development intensify, coordinated action is essential to unlock sustainable opportunities while preserving this unique ecosystem.
The EU Mission: Restore our Ocean and Waters, is the focus of this event, with particular attention to innovation, governance, biodiversity protection, climate resilience, and sustainable blue economy development.
The event will bring together various local, regional and European stakeholders and the key discussion themes will include:
Day 1
• Implementation pathways for Mission Ocean in the Danube Delta
• Danube & Black Sea Lighthouse and associated projects and initiatives
• Nature restoration and biodiversity protection
• Climate adaptation and water resilience
Day 2
• Transport infrastructure requirements for the sustainable development of the Danube Delta
• Tulcea County transport strategy: improving connectivity, accessibility and resilience
• Integrated transport and logistics hub supporting the blue economy
• Hydrogen opportunities for decarbonised transport and logistics
Day 3
• Innovation, entrepreneurship, Start-up ecosystems and job creation
• Cross-border and macro-regional cooperation
• Roadmaps on existing projects in Danube Delta & the region
• Eco-tourism and sustainable value chains
A trip to Danube Delta will be organised in the second part of Day 3.
We would be honoured by your participation and contribution to shaping a collaborative roadmap for the Danube Delta under Mission Ocean. We expect your interventions in all 3 days due to a large variety of topics and local & regional interest.
